10 Facts about me
Hi everyone!!
I hope everything is going well.
I don’t know if it’s just for me, but time is passing by fast, we are already in February, the “month of love” which is my favorite month because I celebrate my birthday in 20 days 🥳. Yes, I am one of those people who get really excited about birthdays, because I’m celebrating the gift of life of the most important person in my life: me. I know it might sound egocentric but this is a conversation for another post. Life is a beautiful miracle, which I believe we often take it for granted, therefore deserves a celebration, regardless of how you choose to “celebrate”.
For my first February post, I thought it would be fun to share things you might not know about me.. A bonus before I even start is that I love the fact that in my family, from both my mother and father side, I’m the only one born in February. I found that interesting considering the average number of African family members. I’ve been challenging them to take me out of “February throne”.
- I love to observe other people, I start doing that really early. My mother says that even as I child Sometimes I use to go sit in a chair to observe people, instead of interacting with them. I always interested to understand the human mind, behavior and social interaction. I’m sure that’s the reason why I am passionate and pursued psychology studies. The other reason is that I also always wanted to help people being of feeling better somehow. This “call” is surely the reason I’m also good friend/ listener, always willing to be there for people when possible and give (asked) advice.
- I don’t just love, but I do need to spend time by myself to recharge my energies. I identify myself as an “spiritual empathetic” which one of the characteristics is to usually sense/ absorb energies from people, places, regardless if it’s good or bad, therefore I can get overwhelmed if I don’t have my alone time. That is something challenging to deal on my birthdays; I usually get overwhelmed with all the love I receive from felicitations. I will write more about this in another post.
- Growing up I disliked almost everything related with physical activities. But as an adult, its part of my routine, I love it, I like to try different things, and if I don’t have any physical activity for more than 2 weeks, mostly likely I will not feel okay emotionally. The same goes for being in contact with the nature is part of my mental hygiene routine.
- I appreciate art, and for me tattoo is a form of art, therefore I Love it. I start idealizing and drawing a tattoo since I guess the age of 10/12. All tattoos I have drawn on my body were timely and precisely chosen, with a meaning to me, it’s my living art. My parents didn’t approve so I could only do most of them when I was “officially an adult” (living under my own roof and paying my bills 😁). It is frustrating when people say I’m following a fever, or worst, imply that I’m addicted.
- Usually my brain works at 8 or 80 🙃. I am really focused, multi task, sharp minded person but at the same time, in some moments I feel like a zombie who already ate its own brain and I struggle to remember even my name. The good thing is at least I’m aware when the zombie mode is activated therefore I can inform people properly or just avoid intellectual conversations/ activities. The same goes for social interactions, sometimes I’m really outgoing, really talkative, who wants to go everywhere and sometimes I’m again the zombie and just want to be in my house or by myself.
- I can’t watch a movie/ TV show or read a book without seeing the trailer or reading a synopsis, mostly because I’m afraid I might waste my time in something I’m not interested after all, I hate wasting my time. The same goes for videos on social media too, usually I’m reading comments before seeing the video, especially if takes more than 30 seconds. But if I think it’s worthwhile I can for example spend a weekend watching a movie marathon 🙃.
- I am not a fan of phone calls in general, mostly because they can be in a moment that I don’t really feel like talking, which happen a lot 😁. 1. If it’s a long conversation, and we have the chance to meet, I would prefer to have it in Person; 2. If you don’t really have anything to say, I know it’s a sweet gesture checking on me, but I’ll appreciate more by a text message; 3. If it’s something short and doesn’t need my immediate attention I will appreciate a text message as well. With some of my closest friends I prefer (they also prefer, yes I asked 😌) to exchange voice notes, you can vent, share in your time and give the other the time to respond in its best moment.
- I am so organized because I’m so naturally disorganized 😅. A lot of people know me as a really organized, disciplined, etc., but it’s so easy for me to forget things, start/ be interested in different things at same time and not finish anything at all, distract myself, being lazy, etc. That’s why I value and need so much to be structured, disciplined with myself; otherwise it would be chaos over here. My education also helped me a lot with discipline and as an adult I also understood its value and I’m thankful for that.
- Surely I can control what I say, and those who know me know that I usually choose words very carefully, but my face is a whole different story. If I am not in a professional environment or active listening to a person which usually takes me to a “therapist vibe” I can’t control my facial expressions and I became a parade of emoticon 😱😒😃😝🤨🙄🤭🥵 accompanied by laughs, screams or others vocals reactions. Also I have a resting b***h face[1] 😐. My people know that they can’t drop me bombs if they want to draw others attention, because surely my reaction will do it.
- I general I can’t say no to a dessert, but my weakest point is a dessert with chocolate 😋 although I can resist chocolate per se, even my favorite ones. I guess it’s because I grew up not eating much chocolates because of skin allergies, so I’m used to not eating it or resisting it despite me liking it. There goes also for prawns and other seafood, I like the taste but I can be longer periods of time not eating it.
Did you relate yourself with one of these?
What is something about you that not a lot of people know? 🙂
